Add Google Maps to your Website

Wednesday, March 26, 2008

Yesturday we released a new version of .geographical media and are happy to announce the new mapping features. We've integrated with both Google Maps and Microsoft Virtual Earth to allow .geo users to put maps anywhere on there website, and to provide automatic mapping functionality for all media items.

To put a static map on your page use the Layout > This Page function to edit the features on your page. You will find a new feature in your feature list called Map. Drag the map onto your page where you want it to appear. Edit the Feature Settings to set the map size and location.

Also you will see the small "View Map" icons on all your search result pages and post/photo pages where you have selected the location of the media item.

< View Map Icon

Enjoy your new maps!

What it means to be Classic, plus more colors, patterns, and designs

Thursday, February 21, 2008

Well, we've been working diligently these past couple of weeks on the "Classic" style set in the designer.   We are happy to announce that we've now doubled or tripled the number of color choices available on most component types and have introduced some exciting new designs.

Our goal with the "Classic" style set is to create design components which will not go out of style in a few months, or become boring, or agressive to the eye.  The idea is to use solid consistent design patterns which have been proven to work over the past years of web design.  In classic you won't find any photographs, or crazy swirly patterns, or even super trendy big glass buttons.  Don't worry, you can find all those cool things in other style sets.

Some good examples of  new classic designs we have recently added include the new background patterns "stripes", "squares" and "film grain".

Be sure to checkout the new components and colors in Classic, maybe they will work for your site!
